Join us in coming together to address the food crisis in Haiti.

Rising food and fuel costs have left the most vulnerable populations hungry. The recent rioting in Haiti speaks to the devastating impact of the food crisis on the poor and hungry. Already facing food shortages and funding shortfalls, the people of Haiti have been particularly susceptible to the skyrocketing prices. While rising prices mean less food for the hungry, a new face of hunger is emerging. Even where food is available, more and more people simply cannot afford it.
But you can help those most at risk by joining Together for Haiti, a partnership led by musician Wyclef Jean, in cooperation with Yele Haiti, the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF).
Even a small donation will go a long way. It takes just 25 cents to give hungry kids a school meal. This food will not only feed bodies, but also minds, and will help transform lives.
About the Together for Haiti Partnership
Created in response to the current crisis in Haiti, its mission is to provide much needed resources for three crucial programs in Haiti:
Targeted Food Distribution
Programs will expand WFP’s existing food assistance program for children under five and pregnant women, continue existing school meal programs through summer vacation, and organize voucher-based food distribution of dry food to the neediest families.
Immediate Employment Creation
Labor-intensive employment opportunities will focus on small-scale irrigation rehabilitation, drainage and canal clearing in urban areas, road rehabilitation to improve agricultural access, watershed management and other activities in support of expanding agricultural production. Wages will be a combination of cash and food.
Micro-enterprise Grants
Small grants and training will be provided to low-income entrepreneurs so they can engage in local food production and processing including small-scale egg production, vegetable gardens, grain milling, bread production and other related activities.
