The Catherine Bertini Trust Fund for Girls’ Education

The Catherine Bertini Trust Fund for Girls’ Education

The Catherine Bertini Trust Fund for Girls’ Education seeks to fund projects that use food aid to expand access to education for girls and women. Friends of WFP is pleased to host this initiative, which was started with a generous donation from former WFP Executive Director Catherine Bertini – her entire $250,000 World Food Prize.

Goal

The goal of the Bertini Fund is to improve access to training and education for women and girls, primarily by supporting innovative efforts by WFP country offices to reach girls who are not currently participating in school meals programs.

Application Process

Projects may be submitted by WFP country offices for programs to be implemented by WFP or local partner organizations. Priority will be given to small-scale projects that specifically target women and girls. Projects should be new and innovative, rather than the expansion of existing programs.
