OVERALL POSITION DESCRIPTION
Friends of the World Food Program (Friends of WFP) is seeking a full-time Director of Public Affairs. This individual will be responsible for managing and supporting the organization’s media relations, publications and online activities.
The Director of Public Affairs will work with a small, dynamic staff to integrate communication efforts among fundraising, advocacy and volunteer engagement initiatives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree and possess at least five years of experience in communications within the non-profit sector, with a proven track record of media placements and excellent writing and editing skills. Attention to detail, ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, and desire to work in a collaborative and dynamic environment are a must. Previous management experience highly desirable.

Senior Development Associate, New Opportunities
REPORTS TO
Director, Corporate Relations
OVERALL POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Senior Development Associate is a critical member of the Friends of the World Food Program Development Team. The primary responsibilities of this position are to lead the identification of prospective donors through research, and to lead the writing and editing of proposals and other necessary reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Take the lead on Development team writing to include:
- Appeals and proposals for both individual and corporate donors
- Donor updates and cultivation pieces for both individual and corporate donors
- Coordinate activities with the Communications team and serve as development department lead on messaging
- Develop and implement a prospect identification protocol for individual, corporate and foundation prospects.
- Administer the foundation giving program.
- Research appropriate prospects
- Create template proposals and reports
- Write and edit technical proposals and donor reports
- Provide editorial support for the Development team.
- Manage the hiring and supervision of Development Intern, Research and Fundraising.
- Perform other development team duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree and 3-5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience; Demonstrated success in grant/proposal writing and copy editing; Experience in donor prospect research; Management experience a plus; Demonstrated ability to be highly flexible and communicate with diverse, international audiences; Applicants must demonstrate ability to work independently, multi-task and be pro-active; Ability to handle confidential matters with a high level of integrity; Excellent personal and written communication skills; Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet programs and donor database programs.
