President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief

Since its creation in 2003, the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has made enormous strides in bringing anti-retroviral drugs to HIV/AIDS patients in developing countries. Anti-retroviral drugs are commonly prescribed to patients, and they must be taken with food. The combination of food and medication helps HIV/AIDS patients regain their physical strength so they are able to return to work and support their families. Friends of WFP advocates for increased nutrition assistance for the world’s poorest individuals suffering from HIV/AIDS.
