Policy Update
WFP’s 2008 budget grew substantially as a result of rising food and fuel prices and new emergencies in places such as Myanmar. There are also millions of people in developing countries who have been pushed deeper into poverty by the global food crisis and are in need of WFP’s assistance. The United States Congress is considering legislation that would increase funding for WFP and other international humanitarian assistance programs. Please contact your Members of Congress and urge them to increase food assistance funding in the 2008 Emergency Supplemental Spending Bill.
Take action.
